Haus am Stalten: A private clinic in Steinen, Germany

Haus am Stalten was founded over 40 years ago. It is situated on a south-facing slope in the Black Forest at the point where Germany, France and Switzerland meet, at an altitude of 700 meters. Here, the Swiss alps are in clear view in the distance. The combined effects of the clinic’s idyllic setting on a ground of prehistoric rock, the tranquil atmosphere within the establishment, the absolute quiet all around it, and the Black Forest’s natural vitality, are a blessing to anyone ill or stressed. In addition to competent treatment in traditional medicine, this clinic also offers the full range of anthroposophical medicine and naturopathy.

As of 2017, Haus am Stalten operates as a private clinic, but its well-established concept of psychosomatic rehabiltation remains. It is open to self-paying and privately insured patients. With only 29 beds in 21 single and four double rooms, each with its private bathroom and some with a balcony, the establishment is kept deliberately small. General illnesses, psychosomatic disorders, cancer, rheumatism, multiple sclerosis and autoimmune diseases are treated. But comprehensive preventive health care and training in how to deal with chronic stress are also offered. Due to the clinic’s unique location and the configuration of the building, it is virtually free of electromagnetic radiation. Certified data is available for each room.

Treatments available: Anthroposophic medicine, psychotherapy, biographical work and counseling. Anthroposophic therapies such as curative eurythmy, art therapy including painting, drawing and sculpting, speech therapy, music therapy. Rhythmical massages (method Dr. Wegman), Pressel massages (method Dr. Pressel), physiotherapy, ergotherapy, lymphatic drainage, craniosacral therapy, medicinal baths, embrocations, poultices and compresses, diet advice. Since 2018, whole body hypherthermia therapy can also be obtained, and a full-body thermography camera is available for diagnostic purposes. Wholesome, vegetarian, home-cooked food is served, using products from biodynamic farming. In-house cultural events such as concerts, lectures and fairy tale hours, as well as outings to points of cultural interest in the vicinity, are considered to be an integral part of the clinic’s therapeutic concept.
